Time gets the better of our couple for a good while. The year they renovate the new entryway, ‘taking a month off’ turns into six months, turns into a year, turns into things just feeling normal. Logan hits double digits, the big one-zero, ten years old, and it’s like Michael and Kelly blink in unison, and realize all at once how much time has passed. The ‘bookstore’ portion of their house has turned into an accidental playroom. The weird open floor plan upstairs just became a big living room, and they’ve forgotten to do the next steps.
The year is now 2010, and the question of if a bookstore is a good idea crosses both Kelly and Michael’s minds. The conversation they have about it is awkward and clunky, because each thinks the other is going to shoot the idea down. Surely, their intelligent and loving partner isn’t going to swing for the idea of a bookstore when the demographic is clearly turning to digital media…

I’ve taken a year to think about this, because it’s a huge topic with too much nuance for one person.
Guys, it’s time I tell you.
I disagreed with my dad’s moderation style.

This week I am still playing Risk of Rain 2. I’m currently trying to beat eclipse level 8 as artificer, other than that I’ve not played a whole lot.
What are you guys up to?
I have no good explanation or reason, but my brain is fried, and I’m sad. Instead of a Sims 4 Overthinking post this week, I’m just going to throw out my Twitch. I’ve been live-streaming The Sims 4, but I’m also planning to get into some emulated games. Maybe old Animal Crossing or Harvest Moon titles. It’s quiet, no-dialogue streaming. If it’s a quiet game, I put music in the background, if it isn’t, I don’t.
It’s much less of a ‘professional streaming’ setup, and more of just a place to play games without feeling alone. I don’t have a schedule currently, but I play something or other most days in the evening. My handle is ‘Capsulepon‘ because Gashapon (my usual online handle) was taken and my hyper-fixation on capsule dispensing and claw machines only grows stronger by the day.
I’m posting today instead of tomorrow because when this post goes up I should be live, and Fridays are doctor appointment days.
I’m still playing risk of rain 2 but I also started a game of Terraria with some friends. We just got up to post-mechanical bosses in master mode and it is pain and suffering.
What about you guys?
I called 2019 "The Year of corporate Dystopia". Here is a list of the games I thought were interesting or worth talking about that year.
Why are RPG economies so bad? Why are shopkeepers so mercenary, why are the prices so crazy, and why do you always end up a gazillionaire by the end of the game? Can't we just have a sensible balanced economy?
A programming project where I set out to make a gigantic and complex world from simple data.
I scoured the Steam database to figure out what words were the most commonly used in game titles.
Some advice to game developers on how to stop ruining good stories with bad cutscenes.
There's a new graphics API in town. What does that mean, and why do we need it?
Lists of 'best games ever' are dumb and annoying. But like a self-loathing hipster I made one anyway.
People fault EA for being greedy, but their real sin is just how terrible they are at it.
This series began as a cheap little 2D overhead game and grew into the most profitable entertainment product ever made. I have a love / hate relationship with the series.
So what happens when a SOFTWARE engineer tries to review hardware? This. This happens.
