Stolen Pixels #83: Left 4 Dumb: Part 5

So I made another comic that has Left 4 Dead stuff in it and I was kind of hoping you would read it.

Also, The Escapist has been nominated for a Webby award. As you well know, online media companies make their money almost exclusively from winning online awards. (In fact, this is the real reason print media is struggling so badly. The Star Tribune wouldn’t be in so much trouble if they were eligible for some web awards.) I think it would be great if The Escapist won. </hint hint>.

Okay, okay, that’s the incentive I needed to register.

It deserves it, at any rate. Rawksome site all around.

  2. Narkis says:

I can not believe Gamespot is second. Hasn’t it been thoroughly discredited as a credible news source yet?

  3. Ludo says:

    “Which includes my beard !”

This one made me laugh loudly (which is not so frequent), nice one Shamus :)

  4. Jabor says:

Nitpick: This post doesn’t have “: Part n” in the title.

  5. Mistwraithe says:

Haven’t you got your speech bubbles the wrong way around on the last panel of the comic Shamus?

Francis is talking about shouldn’t we go out there and get him in panel 3… then in the next panel he is saying in the morning.

  6. Fon says:

Yeah, it is kind of wierd that GameSpot is second… And if I am not mistaken, all of their FAQs/Walkthrough and were from GameFAQs, right? That means they have almost no content? I am not sure, I never visit GameSpot anyway.

For the comic, in panel 5 Francis is asking what to do with Bill, but in panel 6 when Zoey suggest that they save Bill, Fracnis suggest to left Bill alone.

Makes you wonder why did Francis ask in the first place.

    1. Shamus says:

In panel 5, Fancis suggested THEY go save Bill. He wasn’t volunteering. :)

  7. skizelo says:

I always assumed they traveled at night to avoid the auto-startled witches?

  8. Broc says:

Don’t know if this is the place to say it but I really don’t understand Left 4 Dead. One thing I always disliked in a FPS is when a bunch of enemies just run at you and all you have to do is shoot them in the face while they get to you. Left 4 Dead is 100% that.

I’ve always been more of a Ghost Recon fan or other games where you get to use cover and try to pick enemies from a distance… I liked Half-Life 2 but hated levels like Ravencroft where you’re always under assault by enemies who run at you. Can’t stand that, it feels dumb to me.

Well, to each his own ; )

Oh, and congrats about that nomination, must feel great to be a part of a sucessful site!

  9. RedClyde says:

They travel at night because they’re vampires, hence the immunity to the disease.

    >.>

  10. G-funk says:

    @Broc.

I, for one, am thankful for a game full of foolish, instinctive Zombies. Like you said, different games for different preferences.

    Shamus,

Love the L4D comics. If only there was a way to filter available games by microphone usage, it would probably make everyone happier.
