Stolen Pixels #82: Left 4 Dumb: Part 4

I just want to point out that the title “Stolen Pixels #82: Left 4 Dumb: Part 4” has way too many numbers in it. To be fair, Valve started it by putting excess numbers in the middle of a title. I’d like to give these comics proper names, but “Stolen Pixels #82: Left 4 Dumb: Part 4: Sweeping Changes” is nigh unreadable. And what if they came out with a sequel? “Stolen Pixels #317: Left 4 Dumb 2: Part 12: Nerf the Pushbroom!”, isn’t a title, it’s an article.

But you could read it anyway.

20A natural twenty.

    2!
(speaking of altering the fabric of time itself, it seems my edit counter somehow reset itself.. or at least went back a few minutes.
Too bad you don’t like it, I was hoping this would turn into a thread of pure silliness. The 2! stays, but it is now followed by a proper post as you see.)

  2. potemkin.hr says:

great episode, keep up with the good work :)

  3. Pederson says:

    5!

Oh, man! I gotta try out that pushbroom next time I play.

  4. Magnus says:

Anyone who does the “first!” thing or similar should be banished to one of the deeper circles of hell for all eternity.

Seriously annoys the crap outta me.

    Now wheres my broom…

  5. Sam says:

That was one of the best comics you’ve ever done. Even your horrible pun was awesome.

I might actually consider purchasing Left 4 Dead if it had a pushbroom weapon.

  6. Trianglehead says:

    Awww. I can’t read it.

“Fatal error: Database Error: Connection Failed in /sixpack/web/global/classes/class.db.mysql.inc on line 74”

Tell the Escapist to get with it so I can read your funny!

  7. Dev Null says:

Ok, agreed that the “first!” thing is only exceeded in its pointlessness by its annoyance value, but in a post complaining about too (2?) many numbers, I thought it was kinda funny. A bit.

    • Shamus says:

Oh, I wasn’t really upset about the 1, 2 posts. I was just playing along. “FP!” hasn’t been a problem around here since DMotR.

I think I shouldn’t have started my comment with “sigh”. I should have gone for over-the-top indignation.

Ah well. Now I look like a crank. This is not far from the truth.

  8. Caffiene says:

Puns are a far more sinister thing to inflict upon teammates than friendly fire.

I think youre in violation of the Geneva Convention, Shamus.

  9. froogger says:

Hey, don’t dismiss first posts as pointless. Consider them icebreakers to be ignored by shy pundits: “Duh, it may not be much, but at least my opinion will matter more than this stupid First!”

  10. Jericho says:

I remember back in the day, you would preempt “First’s”. Glad to see that hasn’t been necessary recently. CARRA.

Anyways, Left 4 Dumb has potential to be a fantastic, long running series, a la “Concerned”.

  11. ZeroByte says:

You missed the chance to do a “This is my broomstick!” pun but funny comic anyway.

  12. Maldeus says:

Hell actually has an eighth circle, reserved for the vilest sinners of all, but Dante thought it was an oversized storage closet because there were no FP’s at the time he wrote the Inferno.

Also, the next one should be called Stolen Pixels #83: Left 4 Dumb: Part 5: Colon Cancer

  13. ngthagg says:

You don’t need to worry about at least one of the numbers in the Left 4 Dead 2 title, because the trend now is to increment the number already in the title. So it’ll become Left 5 Dead, kind of like Ocean’s 12 (and 13), 2 Fast 2 Furious, 13 Monkeys, Seventh Sense, Ei8ht, The Sixth Element, Four Men and a Baby, Five Weddings and a Funeral, etc.

  14. Randolpho says:

Anyone remember Ultima 7 and the Hoe of Destruction? It’s only a matter of time before the Broom of Doom becomes reality…

  15. Lluewhyn says:

Hmm, I remember the Spoon from Final Fantasy…..IV?

Thrown weapon for 9999 points of damage.

  16. Telas says:

“We shall sweep them from the battlefield!”

    Sorry.

John Rambo started the numbered sequel thing with Rambo: First Blood Part II. And then promptly screwed it up with Rambo III (What happened to Rambo II: First Blood Part III?). But then it was just Rambo (I guess the film was adopted, or born out of wedlock?). And now it’s Rambo V on the horizon… Yes, really.

It’s about as silly as keeping your father’s name to protest the patriarchy, and a few generations later, ending up with a kid named for all of his or her male ancestors…

  17. Osvaldo Mandias says:

Never mess with a broom barbarian!

Real life quote from my childhood. NO, I’m not explaining why.
