Here it is, the final bonus comic. Gotta end with a song. If you forget the tune, you can hear it here.

I wrote this a while ago, but was never really happy with it. Thanks to the lower standards of these Bonus strips, I can now foist this on you without guilt or shame.

Edoras!
A Song!
A Stupid Song!
It really is a silly place.

  1. OMG he did it. Oh no. There goes good taste.
But so hilarious when you know the context of the joke. ;-D

  2. That was great Shamus. A silly place indeed.

  3. Sorry for the lack of meaningful commentary here, but:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

  4. Wormtongue’s a pederast, huh? I suspected as much…

  5. Shamus, this is so absolutely perfect. I will commence worshiping you as the geek god you are.

  6. “We think Wormtongue is a pederast!”

Oh my word, this was a hoot and a half. Beautifully done, Shamus! Thank you!

  7. I like how it’s “If you forget the tune, you can hear it here,” not “if you don’t know the tune…”

    Shamus knows his audience well.

  8. It’s been a good run shamus, and i thank you for the laughs, i look forward to follow your views on games and the culture, and will continue in the chainmail bikini (though i have to say the artwork style has been done to death and is very par for the genre, but your writing shines through.)

  9. HAhahaHAhaHAhaaHAhaa

  10. HO HO HO
    HEE HEE HEE
    HA HA HA

    ETC

  11. Genius!! I’ll be laughing about that the rest of the day! :D

  12. Brilliant to the last, thank you Shamus. A very silly place indeed. Now I will have that tune stuck in my head all day!

  13. Thank you, Shamus, for all the laughs and teaching me that The Cat does not like it when one spits Mountain Dew out on her. She seems to think the following side-splitting laughter is aimed at her instead of the computer. (Nice thing about the getting the cat instead of the mouse pad or keyboard is that she cleans herself.)

Now, I need to go get treats to appease the Cat and hopefully save my hide.

  14. THAT…WAS…BRILLIANT!

  15. Lynne,
I hope you are not a commoner – that cat could kill you!

    Shamus,
Don’t stop now! We’re having such a good time! We’re having a ball! Any DMotR strips you do now don’t have to worry about continuity – just about making a joke, so don’t be shy!

… oh well… Thanks for the funny.

  16. That was abso-posi-loot-ly BRILLIANT!
I am so glad you posted that. Sub-par indeed. That stip will have me laughing for the next month!

    I bow to your genius!

  17. Perfect.

    Absolutely perfect.

  18. OMG!! 8^D That was SO hilarious! I am truly going to miss this comic. Way to go out with a bang Shamus! My days will be a little less bright now, but thanks for the great laughs!

    HAR! HAR! HARDY, HAR, HAR!!!!!!!!

  19. I agree with Chipper. I wish you the best of luck with Chainmail Bikini, but if the urge ever strikes you, any “one shot” DMOTR comics would be appreciated by us all.

  20. Perfect ending! Thanks for all your hard work. You’ve given me many laughs and I now appreciate LOTR in a whole new way.

  21. After all those comments about stopping the Monty Python jokes, you lay that out out.

Heh. I know better than to drink when I read here, so…my computer is dry…but several co-workers will be reading the archives this week.

  22. Oh, my, god..I think i love you shamus…in a good way of course. =D

  23. Heh – that led me to find this, which I’d never found before…

Yours is the best KotRT reference ever…

  24. V. droll, sir.

However, I feel that you have not fulfilled the potential in this “Jacksonade” yet, and that talk of winding it up is premature. You are missing the obvious run through of the whole strip with the authors commentary superimposed upon the art so we can see what the DMotR agonised over at the time.

    Steve.

PS Have you checked out “MPATHG In Lego”, on the Holy Grail double disc set? My daughter and I reckon they should do the whole movie on the strngth of that piece.

  25. Oh man..oh man…that was absolutely brilliant on its on without any context…but given the context of banning any Monty Python references ….Oh Man! You d’Man!

I am so going to miss this strip. Please please don’t ever let the domain name lapse or pull the strip as DMotR is a classic that I look forward to revisiting and turning friends on to well into the future.

  26. oh shamus i would have yor babies if i could… plz can i?

  27. And you have officially ruined my reputation with my coworkers. As I was laughing at this one, I got a “Don’t mind him. He just sits in the corner and laughs to himself all the time.” I blame you.

  28. Best parody ever! (second best is the Mysterious Ticking Noise from Potter Puppet Pals)
I shall miss this comic, but am still enjoying the blog.

  29. Chortle. :)

BTW, I officially request you post reminders for Chainmail Bikini updates, at least until I get in the habit of checking for new strips.

    -The Gneech

  30. Ha!

“And that, My Liege, is how we know Middle Earth to be Banana-Shaped.”

Avast! I seem to be recallin’ ’twas at this point that Shamus said how MP jokes were like shootin’ fish in a barrel. Aye, perhaps so. That doesn’t make them less funny!

    Shamus–for the win.

  31. To think, we were nearly deprived of that. I can barely believe it. Shamus, you have truly blessed us all.

  32. Shamus, you need to create a youtube video of this song. You just need to find some guys to sing it for you, and then play that over the screencaps.

  33. Shamus, you really need to consider having this entire series published. I for one would buy the book in heartbeat just so I know that I’d have them whenever I needed a good laugh. One can never tell if these will remain on the internet, which would be a very tragic loss for all of us.

Please seriously consider this endeavor, especially with your side comments.

Thanks for all the laughs and creativity!!

~Epheros Aldor – Apostle of Cale

  34. Best. Deleted scene. Evar. I wish I had more to add, but I’m too busy singing the song ^_^

  35. Many, many levels of love for this. Thank you again for a rollicking good time, from a non-RPG-playing Python fan who adores geeks.

  36. Thanks for a wonderful webcomic.

    And the song kicked ass.

  37. finished! And just 3 days before Bilbo’s Birthday. I propose a toast to the Young boys.

As long as life and love survive
may laughter alwasys fill their lives,
the Steelers win, the dice roll fair,
and wives their lot with patience bear.

  38. Shamus.

    You are god.

lol I think it’s grea tthat you spent so many strips saying that Monty Python jokes are bad things, and yet … =P

  39. Absolute brilliance, and the perfect note upon which to go out.

Now I go to force it on others :)

  40. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!

    Three cheers for Shamus.

Hip hip, HURRAY! Hip hip, HURRAY!! Hip hip, HURRAY!!!

  41. Brilliant!

*sigh* I’m so going to miss DM of the Rings.

  42. Fabulous. And I love the song’s presentation — the colorful musical notes, the parchment sidebars, the fantasy font, the panel layout.

    And there was much rejoicing.

  43. OMG…. /facepalm

    funniest “deleted scene” strip.

I’ve read this entire series at work, and have had to restrain myself a NUMBER of times from busting out laughing.

sadly, my current GM has NO sense of humor, and was slightly insulted when I showed him this.

I loved this series. I’m adding chainmail bikini to my favorites, and looking forward to the strips with baited breath.

a GREAT series. thank you again.

  44. Sic transit gloria DMotR…

    =-[.]-=

  45. OK, this doesn’t really fit continuity at that point in the story, but below par?

No way. Which does not slight your other work.

    This is hilarious.

Thank you for giving it to us.

  46. Damn Mike beat me. That Trekkie table is just so well done.

  47. Shamus, how is it possible that you were not happy with this? It a jewel of absolute perfection. Thanks again for all the laughs.

  48. love it… “let’s no go there. it is a silly place…”
