Okay seriously? This totally makes up the Chaotic Evil theme being gone.

Honestly, when I noticed the old comics were no longer up I was pretty sad; I did really sometimes go and reread those fifty odd strips and smile wistfully because it was a DAMN good effort in my opinion. I know a lot of people didn’t appreciate the art and some didn’t like the humour, but I found the lot of it splendid.

    Great news! =D

  2. Drew says:

Nice to see it’ll be back online, but I imagine I’m not the only one who was hoping it was going to be back in production. Still, glad it’ll see the light of day again.

  3. Erik says:

This makes me very happy, I loved this comic. I’m glad you were able to recover your archives, Shamus!

  4. Bill says:

I gotta say though: PDF press release? Is this 1998?

  5. Jimmy says:

Sweet! I only just recently (in the past seven months or so) started following this blog. In that time I’ve managed to read all of your DMotR strips, as well as your strips on the Escapist, but the links to Chainmail Bikini were broken. Now I’ll finally get to read it!

    This news makes me happy.

  6. chakan says:

So exciting, I dunno how many times I’ve referenced it, or spent hours looking for anyone who had a copy of it, only to be dissapointed. While I understand why the two of you moved on, I was heartstruck when it was taken down. Still, nice to have it comming back.

  7. Magnus says:

    Fantastic news!

Will need to read through DMotR first I think…

also, is this site getting greyer? Is that even a word? Surely “more grey” would be more appropriate?

Ahem. Such grey-ness is much appreciated, was finding things a touch blindingly white…

  8. Strangeite says:

I am happy that Chainmail Bikini is being summoned from the ethereal plane, but has it really been 2 years already?

    2 years?!?

I knew time was speeding up as I got older but that just doesn’t seem right.

Must be some weird temporal displacement field emanating from TwentySided.

  9. Jabor says:

Gosh. Those dates make me wonder where the past two years have gone.

Also I liked the humour in the press release.

  10. Kdansky says:

Awesome! But another wait for 51/3 = 17 Weeks until we see the first new comic. That is a bit disappointing. Do you really need to draw this out this much? I would prefer you’d post them daily until we’re current and then update twice a week with fresh content, or something like that.

  11. Shawn says:

Kdansky – there’s only going to be one new comic. This is mainly so that the old comics will be up online again. So fresh content will be posted once, and then you’ll have to go back to reading our newer projects. ;)

Our original plan was to slap them up all at once, but realizing how much additional commentary and behind the scenes discussion we wanted to do, it made way more sense to stretch the releases out.

  12. AGrey says:

    PDFs are the devil!

Purge the Internet of this blasphemy, and the almighty Google will smile upon you once more!

  13. A different Dan says:

Glad to see I’m not alone in going “a PDF, Shamus? Really?”

And without warning, to boot. What is this, a round of “gotcha”?

  14. BaCoN says:

Now if only it would CONTINUE. /petition

For some reason, I find I just can’t get into Clockworks like I did into Chainmail Bikini.

  15. Alan says:

Huh, I have been thinking about that recently.

Also, didn’t Shawn/Shamus say that they were thinking about putting it up at some point?

RE: New content. I am not suggesting that this becomes a frequent thing, but how about on public holidays, or major gaming events, the characters could be used to illustrate various amusing events that happen, or sketches that you two think of that can’t be done elsewhere.

    Please?

    :-)

  16. Spider Dave says:

Awesome! Chainmail Bikini is how I discovered this blog in the first place. But yowza, two years. I must be getting old.

  17. Vegedus says:

Hah! I liked the presentation of this momentous event. Hell, you could almost make a mr-stock-photo-guy out of that script.

  18. NotYetMeasured says:

Great news! I’m looking forward to it.

  19. Merle says:

The masses demand MORE Chainmail Bikini!
Also, I cannot for the life of me find Clockworks. I read the first few, then lost the link, and haven’t been able to find it again since.

  20. Shawn says:

http://clockworkscomic.com will redirect you to the shawntionary page. It’s also on the front page if you google “clockworks” and the top result for “clockworks webcomic”. for some reason I cannot figure out, it’s on like the 3rd page if you google “clockworks comic”

  21. Merle says:

    Awesome, thanks! *re-reads*

  22. Ravens Cry says:

Wow, while it is not returning in the sense of continuing, it will be lovely to read the old comics again. *sniff* Welcome Back!
