Does anyone see the obvious stupidity inherant in the XBox shortage?
MICROSOFT: The Xbox 360 is going to change the world! It’s the greatest gaming platform ever made! Everyone will want one!
GAMERS: Sounds good. How many did you build?
MICROSOFT: Ummm… eleven?
Either they suspected their platform would flop but cranked up the hype machine anyway (making them lying, short-sighted idiots) or they knew it would succeed but didn’t make enough (making them just regular idiots).
Nice one. And just in time for Christmas! Yay!
The Disappointment Engine
No Man's Sky is a game seemingly engineered to create a cycle of anticipation and disappointment.
Ludonarrative Dissonance
What is this silly word, why did some people get so irritated by it, and why did it fall out of use?
The Terrible New Thing
Fidget spinners are ruining education! We need to... oh, never mind the fad is over. This is not the first time we've had a dumb moral panic.
Deus Ex and The Treachery of Labels
Deus Ex Mankind Divided was a clumsy, tone-deaf allegory that thought it was clever, and it managed to annoy people of all political stripes.
Quakecon Keynote 2013 Annotated
An interesting but technically dense talk about gaming technology. I translate it for the non-coders.

I’m sorry if I appear to be a nitpicker and please inform me if I do… I’ve never posted on anyone’s site for fear of embarassement and ofcourse I’m ending up posting on a two-year-old post, and it also looks as though I’m the only idiot to post on this one.
The shortage on all “first consoles” (I think) is in itself actually a ploy. It’s a common human nature (geek nature) to want to have first or one of the first of something awesome. As many of us know, it’s really difficult to impress your friends with something you just got that they already had for a while. There really are very few things that can have a renewed inspiration.
I think, in having a “shortage” on such a high demand product is just another method to play on peoples anticipations. That’s my input.
Ryan G is right, I think. Have you ever read a book called Jennifer Government? It’s got pretty much the same thing only exaggerated (and involving mass murder). Companies do it to increase demand.
well 2 years later it’ doing fine, and way better than the devils spawn the PS3.
NO YOU!!!
DEATH TO THE PS3!
We love the Xbox .
I wonder if the next one will be called X-Box 720 or 1080.
Microsoft just said this one will last until 2015. We’ll see.
Greetings from the Future!!! Here we have the PS4 outselling the Xbone and the 360 was a complete success, but not its successor, which is the Xbox One!!! It was called that because it was 359 steps backwards from the 360!!! Heed this warning all those in the past, because it is all true!!!
