Desert Bus

Desert Bus is underway. I’ll be calling in to the show today at 4pm EST, 1pm PST. I have no idea what we’ll talk about. I was pretty relaxed about this until I saw the guest lineup for the last 24 hours, which included Penn Jillette, Yahtzee Croshaw, and Jerry Holkins. The LRR crew have mistaken me for a real celebrity, and we must make every effort to prevent them from discovering their error.

They might have a post up on the official blog where you can leave questions for me in the comments. I don’t know how it will go. But I hope you’ll watch.

UPDATE: All done. Fun interview. I’ll have a wrap-up post along with the interview in the morning.

And if my calculations are correct, this is 10 PM in Europe.

    1. Random says:

Where in Europe? Is that 10 PM GMT?

      1. Zukhramm says:

        10 PM in GMT+1.

That is, 15 minutes from now.

      2. Nyaz says:

Ah, yes. GMT+1. Forgot to add that :P

        Also, he’s on RIGHT NOW!

  2. SolkaTruesilver says:

My bookkeeper gives me 3 to 1 odds that you won’t crack. Please help my retirement fund :-D

  3. X2-Eliah says:

Been watching this since day1, amazing show. Donated too.

Will be sleeping once Shamus calls, though – same for all other calls, unfortunately.

  4. Zak McKracken says:

oh god, can anyone translate that to CET (or GMT if you like)? Is that five or six hours behind? This daylight saving business always has me completely confused …
According to my own calculation you should be on right now, but you aren’t … so I’m probably wrong :(

Edit: oh, my eyes, it’s right at the top of the wikipedia article on EST … six hours, so one more to go …silly me!

    1. Narida says:

The time on the comments seems to be EST, so just use that. ;)
It’s another three-quarters of an hour.

  5. Blanko2 says:

these last few minutes are taking aaaagesss

  6. MarkHawk says:

    Any minute now…

    1. MarkHawk says:

      That was fun.

  7. GiantRaven says:

Plug Spoiler Warning! Plug it like there’s no tomorrow!

    1. malcolio says:

I understand what you mean, but I’m glad Shamus plugged Child’s Play rather than Spoiler Warning…

  8. Blanko2 says:

aw shamus didnt even do a fangirl squeal when paul answered!

  9. Conor devlin says:

    You answered my question.

    Yaay!

  10. vdeogmer says:

Couldn’t get them to ask why you weren’t proposing to Paul.

  11. Cezar says:

You rocked! You’re a great guy Shamus, and a funny one too. Just wanted to take the time to tell you I really enjoy your work, even if I don’t comment on it or other things!

    Thanks for entertaining the internet!

  12. anaphysik says:

Great. I tune in right as Shamus’ interview ends. GRRRRR!

My suspicions regarding tabletops were confirmed.

  13. This-is-Hip-Hop says:

Same here, you got my question in, that was pretty cool to hear you talk in real time, and be able to communicate, in a very unique way, with everyone.

  14. X2-Eliah says:

Hmm, was good. You really should’ve used the opportunity to advertise your stuff more, though :)

Paul was quite a downer too, but still, great show.

  15. Warden says:

You were entertaining, moreso than Pen in my mind.

  16. JoCommando says:

On behalf of the internet, thanks for the entertainment, Shamus!

Feel kinda bad for your D&D pals though… a great DM is hard to find!

    1. Bogan the Mighty says:

You have no idea. We cry ourselves to sleep some nights!

  17. Irridium says:

Shamus, will your interview be put up on youtube or something?

I tried to watch it, but since my internet is awful all I saw were them asking you questions, the video pausing, then skipping ahead to the next question, which caused me to completely miss your answers.

If not then fine I guess, I just would really love to see the interview.

      1. Irridium says:

        Glad to hear!

Will you be posting it here or should I continue to frantically search Youtube?

          1. Irridium says:

            Awesome.

Great interview. Thanks for recording it!

  18. rofltehcat says:

Unfortunatelly, I was only able to watch the last ~5 minutes of your interview and I hate to admit that I only stumbled in by chance.
Will there be an upload where I can listen to the interview again?

I am happy I didn’t miss the part about your daughter. When you are healthy it is easy to forget how important (public) healthcare is, especially for children and old people but of course also for everyone else. I think it is important to support the healthcare of other people, even if you can’t really directly ‘care’ for them and I hope Desert Bus for Hope collect a lot of money to support the care of children in hospitals.
A hospital can be a horribly boring place and I can see how children can get well faster if they have a way to move their mind away from such horrid places. Boredom can be like torture for some children (and even adults, I guess… I wouldn’t want to be bored for several days without something to play/read).

  19. DancePuppets says:

I couldn’t watch it as I only have mobile internet at home! I am now sad. Is there any way it could be posted in future?

    1. Zak McKracken says:

see two posts above, it’s gonna be on youtube :)

      1. DancePuppets says:

        YAY! :-)

  20. SpammyV says:

You need to do another standalone SW episode for Desert Bus. So we can enjoy Josh’s wonderful driving skills.

Although I can’t tell what I want more: a Desert Bus filled with the SW hosts or a Desert Bus whose passengers are Conan, Reginald, Bubbles, and Regina. Bus probably wouldn’t make it five minutes before getting blowed up.

  21. Bit says:

Darn, I missed it! I’ll watch the recorded thing in a bit.

  22. The_Unforgiven says:

Awesome interview, Shamus. I’ll be honest, I’m kinda disappointed you didn’t ask Paul to marry you :P

  23. Sean Riley says:

Aww. My question was not silly, I feel, but it was not answered. (Probably limited appeal.) I asked about Far Cry 2, since you never told us how you felt about it in the end.

  24. Mari says:

You’re not only a celeb, Shamus, you’re a rock star. You’re so internet famous that even my KIDS know who you are (although, in fairness, their reading has been pretty much limited to DMotR). And no, I’m not the one who pointed them your direction.

Great interview but I second (third? seventh?) the disappointment that you didn’t even squeal like a fangirl, much less ask Paul to marry you.

  25. Steve C says:

You shouldn’t be surprised Penn Jillette is one of the people doing Desert Bus. I would have been surprised if he was -not- involved. Desert Bus was made by Penn and Teller. It’s their game.

  26. Alex says:

Aww, Penn Jillette called in? Wish I weren’t asleep when that happened.

Thanks for recording your spot though. And hey, guy dressed like Bo-Bobo playing Desert Bus. An added bonus!
