I think I’ll post these M-W-F until I get tired of them.
What is Piracy?
It seems like a simple question, but it turns out everyone has a different idea of right and wrong in the digital world.
Tenpenny Tower
Bethesda felt the need to jam a morality system into Fallout 3, and they blew it. Good and evil make no sense and the moral compass points sideways.
Batman v. Superman Wasn't All Bad
It's not a good movie, but it was made with good intentions and if you look closely you can find a few interesting ideas.
Push the Button!
Scenes from Half-Life 2:Episode 2, showing Gordon Freeman being a jerk.
The Mistakes DOOM Didn't Make
How did this game avoid all the usual stupidity that ruins remakes of classic titles?
It’ll all end in tears, I know it.
Nah, Boromir’s player will make his “Siege Weapons” skill roll…
I hope whoever is preparing the film version of The Hobbit is reading, and taking notes…
You are following http://www.giantitp.com/Comics.html, right?
Hi Shamus,
I’ve found you via your wife, via Christian Women Online ‘In “other” words’, I’m Susan.
And I’m dyslexic and have memory problems, and my eldest son has dyslexia and dyspraxia.
My eldest son, Michael, is just about to start university on a games course, which is something he’s always wanted to do.
I’ll wave your blog in his direction.
Oh aren’t all computer programmers introverts then? My husband is a business systems analysist who has not programmed in a few years, and he’s dyslexic too! And he sat next to someone for 5 years with out knowing their name :)
Pete: I didn’t know about that site until someone pointed it out when I posted the previous comic. Hopefully my jokes won’t just be a re-tread of what they have already done. :)
Thanks for the note Susan. If you (or your son) want to email me directly: shamus@shamusyoung.com
I can’t recommend OOTS highly enough. It stands out above most comics, period — not just other ‘gamer’ comics. Rich’s work is simply brilliant.
Showed this to my old GM today and she nearly broke when Aragorn wanted to go shopping. And rereading has been fun for me too! I’m looking forward to more.
Why on God’s Green Earth aren’t there a thousand messages here. This is brilliant.
Absolutely brilliant so far (and as insightful humor right up there with “Fellowship as a WoW Quest”).
That was funny as hell, Good job
LOL – I love it when the DM must grasping at straws…
Hee hee! I love it!!
My mom mentioned it too me aweek ago and said she laughed so hard she almost fell out of her chair. Now I see why. Keep up the good work!
I have shared this with every gamer in my email address book, including a couple who don’t game any more but used to.
Why aren’t there any comics appearing? What do I have to do with my browser to be able to read it?
SOMEBODY TELL ME WHY THE COMICS ARE NOT SHOWING!
Oh my god!! I so love it….Aragorn=shopping..lolz..
lol im aragorn and i think shamus made a comic called fear the boot as well
lol im aragorn and i think shamus made a comic called fear the boot as well YAY :p Opps duplicated accident
Fear the boot isn’t a comic, its a podcast, they hosted a comic called chainmail bikini which Shamus wrote for, somebody else drew.
Oh, ok.
Why do they always insist on getting drunk or going to a brothel?! This is genius. God bless stumble. :)
Hahaha, I like the ranger’s face when he asks if theres a brothel! great image….hell, I always ask if theres a brothel in the towns my characters travel to..and im a girl…hehe
So true. Honesty and everything rceognezid.
Ahem. I think this is hilarious, but I do have a problem with people saying, “OMG JRR TOLKIEN IS SOOOOO CLICHà‰!” The reason for this, of course, was when he wrote it, it was so frickin awesome that IT BECAME A CLICHà‰ BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS TRYING TO REPLICATE THE AWESOMENESS!
Ahem. I will try to keep from using the capslock in the future.
Anyways, I’m gonna keep reading now.
Well you know… thats kinda the joke here. Or I did not understand you correctly and you are aware of this and just meant it when people really do believe it. In this case, forget what I said ^^
If only (1) they had listened and (2) Dave didn’t have such bad dice rolls
Should have listened
Can’t believe I just found this. In 2019!
That’s okay I’m rereading this now after many years in 2024. I forgot pretty much the entire story but I remember it being totally hilarious and so far it has not disappointed.
