I think this is the last track of this project. It’s nothing special. It’s just more fun with audio samples. We recently wrapped up our play-through of Half-Life 2: Episode One, and it got me thinking about good old Dr. Breen.
I think I met my goal. I’ve sat down and re-listened to the entire Button Masher collection…
…and I find myself thinking, “Yeah, I see what I did wrong there” and “I could do this so much better now”. Of course, finding out you were recently incompetent and you’re slightly less incompetent now isn’t a massive boost to the ol’ ego. But it’s something.
I’m moving onto other projects now. I’ll probably get back to music making eventually, but now is the time to write code. Thanks for listening.
If Star Wars Was Made in 2006?

Imagine if the original Star Wars hadn't appeared in the 1970's, but instead was pitched to studios in 2006. How would that turn out?
Object-Oriented Debate

There are two major schools of thought about how you should write software. Here's what they are and why people argue about it.
The Witch Watch

My first REAL published book, about a guy who comes back from the dead due to a misunderstanding.
What is Vulkan?

What is this Vulkan stuff? A graphics engine? A game engine? A new flavor of breakfast cereal? And how is it supposed to make PC games better?
Dead or Alive 5 Last Round

I'm not surprised a fighting game has an absurd story. I just can't figure out why they bothered with the story at all.
You should look at it in a more optimistic fashion:
You were completely incompetent, but now your skill surpasses an average pop song musician.
So it’s basically how you feel whenever you read old code.
Hmph. Project Button Masher does not contain, at any point, anyone bragging about their money or the size of one of their body parts or the size of their significant other’s body parts or how much they’re sorry they paid too much attention to someone else’s body parts.
It doesn’t even classify as Country because no one brags about their home town except Dr Breen.
EDIT: Although, So Cool JC could be interpreted as JC bragging about how cool the girls think he is and how good he is at dancing. But… nah that still doesn’t count.
No,thats rap music.Pop music is all about random stuff,like grocery bags,garbage bags,cannibalism,lunacy,etc.
Are you sure you didn’t just describe Spoiler Warning?
Err,well yes,but with singing….wait….damn it Buttskarn!
No, see, you forgot the puns!
Also, waving your hands in the air like you just don’t care. Strange way to pass the time.
Very fun song.
But… I feel like this series is not quite finished yet.
Can you do a final post summarizing your current methods? Something like “Here’s how I approach writing songs at this point” so that the rest of us don’t have to go through the same trial-and-error that you did. You said you learned a lot, and would do things differently. Could you tell us what those lessons and different approaches would be?
Thanks either way! It’s been a fun series.
YEAH! Back to coding!!!!! WEEEE!!!!
Nooo, don’t quit! Music is one of those things. If you don’t use it, you lose it!
Awwe, I’m too late – I was going to suggest Myst. That game had a very powerful and atmospheric soundtrack.
(Of course, I’m currently unable to listen to audio, so I guess it’s a moot point…)
Since you like to listen to this kind of music when you code, the question is are you now going to be listening to your own music?
Maybe his first coding project now will be to make procedural music that he can listen to without it ever becoming boring.
Any recommendations on music in the same or similar vein to what you’ve created?
Mission accomplished, it sounds like. It’s the creator’s curse. Every time you create something, you improve just enough that you look back at the thing you just created and see all the flaws you made in your prior ignorance. So you’re never fully satisfied with anything you make! Isn’t it fun?
I don’t know if Administrator’s Lament is your best song, but it is the song that I find the be catchiest. I have listened to this song repeatedly over several days, coming back to it again and again. It also makes me sad that Robert Culp is dead as the music and his performance really sell the idea of Breen being tragic. That final, “You need me…” is something you’ve made really haunting.
