I’ve been worried about my website traffic lately. I’m just not getting the kind of adoration and fame that I deserve as a blogger. Asking around, people are telling me that cat pictures are supposed to be a good draw. So I’m going to post a bunch of pictures of cat things and wait for the traffic to roll in.

Unfortunately, I don’t get both the first and the last one. All other “cats” made me laugh.
The first is Cat Stevens. The last is almost certainly a still from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. I had to do some googling to confirm my suspicions about the dragon and to figure out the plane.

I recognized Cat Stevens immediately and I was made in the late ’80s.
The only one I didn’t get was the plane because, well… I don’t know planes.
As others have pointed out, the plane is a PBY Catalina. Of course, I’m only familiar with it because my grandfather flew one in WWII.

As someone with a soft spot for seaplanes, I thoroughly agree. There’s just something about the fusion of boat and plane that appeals to me…
Whenever I see a plane like that, I immediately have flashbacks to Tailspin. My childhood.
Not only was it a flying boat, but this particular one was a flying houseboat, The Landseaire.
I came here to say exactly that, it’s good to see I’m not the only one.
Seeing a classic like that abandoned and forgotten is … almost upsetting, quite frankly.

There’s actually a long story about that particular plane, and how it came to be there.
At one time, it was actually a flying houseboat, which is even more awesome.
I would take one of those in a heartbeat. Not only could I literally pickup and leave at anytime,…. I could also park it at work since I work at an airfield with a working seaplane ramp.
