The Best of 2018
I called 2018 "The Year of Good News". Here is a list of the games I thought were interesting or worth talking about that year.
Mass Effect Retrospective
A novel-sized analysis of the Mass Effect series that explains where it all went wrong. Spoiler: It was long before the ending.
Raytracing
Raytracing is coming. Slowly. Eventually. What is it and what will it mean for game development?
Was it a Hack?
A big chunk of the internet went down in October of 2016. What happened? Was it a hack?
Project Button Masher
I teach myself music composition by imitating the style of various videogame soundtracks. How did it turn out? Listen for yourself.

Hey Shamus! Just a heads up; Massawyrm at AICN has been beta testing 4th Edition D&D, and has posted a review here. Just thought you might be interested!
HOMG that 4E review is awesome!
I agree. I read that this morning and almost creamed my pants reading its awesometasticalness.
I’m not sure I believe that review—it was just seemed so one-sided and exuberant. As if they squared the circle and removed all the tradeoffs in game design, e.g.:
“There are benefits to playing WITH type, but never penalties for against. And that makes a WORLD of difference.”
