Sims 4 Overthinking: Lorretta’s Legacy

The time is upon us. Kelly and Michael have to figure out what to do with the house. It’s not as simple as flipping it for profit or turning it into their family home. This house was Kelly’s great-grandmother’s home, built by her family, for her family.

It was built by her great-great grandfather for her great-grandparents.

It was the source of a known family feud in the 80’s.

It was a gift from her late great-uncle to her mother.

It was the place that Lorretta rebuilt after her divorce with Kelly’s father.

It was the place Logan came home to when he was born.

It was the place that caused Kelly and her older sister to stop speaking.

DM of the Rings Remaster XXIV: Loot of the Rings

Is the loot valuable or not? The price tag is meaningless. It’s all in how you describe it. Take a page from the home shopping channel, where no item is too mundane to be praised.

It’s not a “small figurine”. It’s a “beautiful, hand-crafted figurine of a water nymph”. Yes, this seems silly. Of course it’s hand-crafted. Everything is in a pre-industrial world. I’m telling you: It doesn’t matter if it’s not worth two coppers and weighs as much as a brick, your players will fight over that figurine if you make it sound exciting.

One Year Later; A Vinegar Valentine to Grief

So, yesterday was the anniversary of my dad’s passing. It doesn’t feel like it’s been a year, but I suppose grief has a way of messing with your understanding of time.

A year ago I had just finished the first complete draft of a book of vampire smut I was intending to publish, and was just entering the publishing stage of a book of poetry that was five years in the making.

I hadn’t seen my dad for a month when I’d gotten the call he was going to the hospital, of his own volition. I was in the middle of trying to get Wizards101, the only MMO I’ve ever truly loved, working on the laptop I had at the time. I had gotten through the character creation screen just fine, and had gotten to the moment where it would crash my entire system, when my phone rang.

Break Week: What are you playing?

I’m getting a EKG and heart monitor put on for my usual writing day this week. Nothing too serious, but it’s out of the way and I won’t be home till late.

I’m currently binge-playing Tears of the Kingdom, maybe even have some words about it to write eventually here? There’s a particular series of quests driving me nuts, that feels article worthy. Bad quests feel way, way worse when the rest of the game is a masterpiece.

DM of the Rings Remaster XXII: Are We There Yet?

In defense of the players, I will say that when this sort of thing happens it is usually the result of the players getting restless or bored. If the players are distracted, it means it’s time to change something and recapture their interest. I’m still working on this particular skill myself.

Sims 4 Overthinking: Jentle Disagreement

The year is 2007, and Lorretta is gone. Kelly and Michael are devastated, as is Logan, although him with much less understanding of what’s happened, only that grandma is gone.

Lorretta has left Kelly and Michael the house in her will, as well as half of what she had saved. Kelly’s older sister got the other half, and Lorretta’s car.

At first, who got what doesn’t seem to matter that much, in the midst of grief and funeral arrangements. Kelly and Michael aren’t celebrating getting the house, they knew that was Lorretta’s plan and it makes plenty of sense to them; they’ve been living in it for the last seven years.

Kelly’s sister, Jen, though? She doesn’t feel like it’s so fair.
