Just fiddling with my feed vs. bloglines. Nothing to see here. These aren’t the droids you’re looking for. Move along.

If this is meant to test the Bloglines hotlinking issue, I’m still seeing the blinking monstrosity. Which is strange, because before today, I don’t remember ever seeing that hotlink image before (come to think of it, I don’t think most images show up on Bloglines – perhaps for the reason you mentioned earlier).

In any case, one simple problem with hotlink protection that always drove me nuts was that you have to have a separate entry for a URL that starts with “www” and one that doesn’t (i.e. http://bloglines.com and http://www.bloglines.com)… Though, again, those weird image directory issues you mentioned earlier seem to indicate something a little more complex is going on…

Thanks. What is annoying me now is that I can’t see what you’re seeing: Bloglines isn’t listing this post yet for me. I wonder who is caching stuff beteen me and bloglines? Arg.

If it’s of any use – only the last of those 3 images showed up in safari, all other images, in this and other articles in the RSS feed, aren’t loaded.

Interesting. You mean the real images, or the hotlink abomination?

  5. Shamus says:

Ah at last! Bloglines finally woke up (or whatever was wrong) and is now indexing this post.

I see that of these three images, the third displays in Bloglines. Of course, that one has the full path so it had better work. However, if someday I went nuts and changed the directory name for this site, those images would all break, where as the other ones would work no matter where I put my blog.

I just want things to work gracefully. ARG!

Also: The hotlink demon is no longer showing up in bloglines, so I assume THAT is fixed. Broken image tags are tolerable, but my feed is useless if it’s going to blast visitors with that thing when they use it.

I’m not seeing anything blinking, shedding or dancing. Oh wait, I do see people dancing. So I at least have some inkling of what’s going on. A small inkling. Very small. Call it none.

Oh well. Back to things I understand. These pizza rolls aren’t going to eat themselves, you know.

It’s working, Sweetheart. Good job. :)

<strike>Darth Vader is Luke's father!</strike>

You can make things italics like this:
Can you imagine having Darth Vader as your father?

You can make things bold like this:
I'm very glad Darth Vader isn't my father.

You can make links like this:
I'm reading about Darth Vader on Wikipedia!

You can quote someone like this:
Darth Vader said
Luke, I am your father.
