Also, CAPTCHA gone?
Bear in mind the alpha is for the “Pilot Episode” – the Temple of Pokmor Xang. Short (under 2 hours – I’m hoping more than one…), FREE, and functioning a lot like a television show pilot. But we’re already starting work on the “full” release version (which will hopefully go much faster now that the groundwork is laid out).
But this stand-alone (mostly) adventure will be used as a test case to see if we’re off our rocker, and to fix what sucks before its too late. It’s a weird approach, but we’ll see if it works.
Glad you enjoyed the post-debate discussions, Shamus! It was really interesting see how differently I approached questions from Corvus. We have very different vantage points – it’s fun to see just how BROAD the “indie universe” is.
Joe: I’m running Bad Behavior now, which blocks most spam. So, I don’t need the CAPTCHA now.

I kind of want to alpha-test Frayed Knights (it sounds like it’ll be a fun game), but sadly I don’t really have the time, so I haven’t signed up for it.
And on the CAPTCHA front: out of curiosity, do you think there’s some kind of popularity level or some other sort of trigger at which the spammers “discover” your site and things start getting out of hand? I ask because on my site I’m still just using basic Akismet, and that seems to be working well enough so far. I get the odd “this looks like spam, so it’s been moderated” message but thus far no actual spam has made it onsite. (Admittedly my site has practically no visitors, which is probably a contributing factor.)
