Fear the Boot has a great bonus episode up where they talk about attending Anime Central. The hosts are a lot like me, in that they enjoy anime while at the same time are a little apprehensive about some of the truly insane stuff (NSFW) that escapes Japan. They talk about drunken fans, hentai, furries, and the various strata of Otaku sub-cultures.
Object-Oriented Debate
There are two major schools of thought about how you should write software. Here's what they are and why people argue about it.
Tenpenny Tower
Bethesda felt the need to jam a morality system into Fallout 3, and they blew it. Good and evil make no sense and the moral compass points sideways.
Fable II
The plot of this game isn't just dumb, it's actively hostile to the player. This game hates you and thinks you are stupid.
Trekrospective
A look back at Star Trek, from the Original Series to the Abrams Reboot.
Crash Dot Com
Back in 1999, I rode the dot-com bubble. Got rich. Worked hard. Went crazy. Turned poor. It was fun.
T w e n t y S i d e d
I would rather watch tentacle porn.
Fear the Boot is an excellent gaming podcast, funny as heck. Dan sometimes sounds like he’s about to lose control of the goings-on, but he somehow manages to keep things on track, at least on the regular episodes. Bonus episodes, on the other hand, well, anything goes.
If you like Fear the Boot, check out some of the other gaming podcasts out there. Some of my favorites are Dragon’s Landing Inn, Sons of Kryos, The Durham Three, Harping Monkey, Dice Make Bonk, and Midnight’s Lair.
You know there was a purpose to Ricky Martin music. This is it.
Furries are an American phenomenon. Don’t throw mud at the honorable and pristine name of Japan with such unfounded accusations of perversion.
From what I heard, ACen this year was beyond belief, jerks and assholes all over the place. Also, an enormous problem of bootleg badges happened somehow. Veterans say that it was highly irregular.
I belong into the western zone and anyway I’m off the con circuit this year _again_, so take it for what it’s worth.
I’m sorry man, but if you can’t find that video funny, then it’s YOUR problem. I just can’t help laughing at it even as I’m typing here. Keep up the good work with your toon! ;)
I love Science Fiction and fantasy, I have a great collection of books about it, and I love them. That being said, I like a lot of anime, specially because some series are great examples of Science Fiction or Fantasy settings where things are logically taken where it should, given the basic premises the series presents.
And sometimes you even find insights into a different set of beliefs or way of thinking that truely opens your eyes to new ideas. In other words, what Science Fiction is really about.
