It could be described as &#8220;the thinking man&#8217;s Berzerk&#8221;, but only if he isn&#8217;t thinking too hard.<\/p>\n<p>In 1973 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0070680\/\">Burt Reynolds starred in a movie<\/a> titled &#8220;Shamus&#8221;, where he played a private detective.  &#8220;Shamus&#8221; used to be slang for detective way back when, probably due to the fact that many of them were Irish immigrants, and many of those would have been named Shamus.  There is an even more obscure <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0169221\/\">1959 movie<\/a> of the same name.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0118715\/\">The Big Lebowski<\/a>, The Dude meets a private detective who has mistaken The Dude for a fellow private detective, and they have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0118715\/quotes\">this conversation<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Da Fino, Private Snoop:<\/strong> I&#8217;m a Brother Seamus!<br \/>\n<strong>The Dude:<\/strong> A Brother Seamus?
