{"id":3390,"date":"2009-05-19T09:45:35","date_gmt":"2009-05-19T13:45:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shamusyoung.com\/twentysidedtale\/?p=3390"},"modified":"2009-05-19T09:45:35","modified_gmt":"2009-05-19T13:45:35","slug":"multiple-sidosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shamusyoung.com\/twentysidedtale\/?p=3390","title":{"rendered":"Multiple Sidosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2000, the following <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2cRZmvr-2QM&#038;eurl=http:\/\/www.retrothing.com\/2008\/08\/quite-possibly.html&#038;feature=player_embedded\">movie<\/a> was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being &#8220;culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant&#8221;. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Multiple_Sidosis\">Multiple Sidosis<\/a> is the work of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sid_Laverents\">Sid Laverents<\/a>, an amateur filmmaker. It was made in 1970.<\/p>\n<p><table class='nomargin' cellspacing='0' width='100%' cellpadding='0' align='center' border='0'><tr><td><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2cRZmvr-2QM\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen class=\"embed\"><\/iframe><br\/><small><a href='http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2cRZmvr-2QM'>Link (YouTube)<\/a><\/small><\/td><\/tr><\/table><\/p>\n<p>Sid was around 60 when he made that film. (He died earlier this month, a bit short of his <em>hundred and first birthday<\/em>.) It&#8217;s amazing what he was able to accomplish with such primitive tools.  Imagine what he could have done with a modern Mac. He also wrote an autobiography: <em>The first 90 Years are the Hardest<\/em>. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/First-90-Years-are-Hardest\/dp\/1591292875\">Out of print<\/a>, sadly.)
