{"id":19612,"date":"2013-05-07T11:59:04","date_gmt":"2013-05-07T16:59:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shamusyoung.com\/twentysidedtale\/?p=19612"},"modified":"2013-05-15T17:03:51","modified_gmt":"2013-05-15T22:03:51","slug":"experienced-points-reviving-the-classics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shamusyoung.com\/twentysidedtale\/?p=19612","title":{"rendered":"Experienced Points: Reviving The Classics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week <a href=\"http:\/\/www.escapistmagazine.com\/articles\/view\/columns\/experienced-points\/10308-Lucasarts-Games-that-Deserve-Another-Shot\">I answered<\/a> the question, &#8220;What Lucasarts games would you like to revive?&#8221; This week I ask, &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.escapistmagazine.com\/articles\/view\/columns\/experienced-points\/10321-Reviving-The-Classics\">Uh, what exactly do you mean by &#8216;revive&#8217;?<\/a>&#8221; This entire conversation has also made me aware of just how flexible the term &#8220;classic&#8221; is.  Like some people &#8211; young people I&#8217;m sure &#8211; think of games from 2004 as &#8220;old&#8221;. Man, I&#8217;ve still got some 2004 games on my &#8220;play soon&#8221; list.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, this entire conversation is now irrelevant because it&#8217;s been announced that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.joystiq.com\/2013\/05\/06\/ea-disney-exclusive-rights-star-wars\/\">EA now has a franchise-wide exclusive lock on all things Star Wars<\/a>.  The only way we&#8217;re getting a new X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter game is if we get an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ea.com\/army-of-two-devils-cartel\">Army of Two<\/a> knockoff starring a couple of dudebros named XWing and TieFighter. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not bitter*, I&#8217;m just saying it&#8217;s true. <\/p>\n<p><small>* This is a lie.
