I know everyone else has heard the story already. There were many comments and several emails (thanks!) about the story yesterday, and my mention is late in coming.  Still, it seems odd to run a site called <i>Twenty Sided<\/i> and not at least comment in some way, even if I have nothing deep or meaningful to add.    <\/p>\n<p><table width='300'  cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' border='0' align='left'><tr><td><a href='http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gary_Gygax'><img src='https:\/\/www.shamusyoung.com\/twentysidedtale\/images\/gygax.jpg' class='insetimage' width='300' alt='Gary Gygax' title='Gary Gygax'\/><\/a><\/td><\/tr><tr><td class='insetcaption'>Photo: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.highprogrammer.com\/alan\/\">Alan De Smet<\/a>.<\/td><\/tr><\/table>He was a giant in roleplaying, and his work affected everyone connected with the hobby.  To be fair, without Gygax there never would have been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shamusyoung.com\/twentysidedtale\/?cat=14\">DM of the Rings<\/a>.  Credit where it&#8217;s due, and all that. <\/p>\n<p>I did enjoy these tributes: <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.duelinganalogs.com\/comic\/2008\/03\/05\/so-long-gary\/\">Dueling Analogs<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.giantitp.com\/comics\/oots0536.html\">Order of the Stick<\/a>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.penny-arcade.com\/comic\/2008\/03\/04\">Penny Arcade<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/xkcd.com\/393\/\">XKCD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Also: My wife decribes <a href=\"http:\/\/untraditionalhome.com\/?p=121\">playing a diceless storytelling game with our three children, and also drew a picture of G.
