{"id":1279,"date":"2007-08-18T11:00:57","date_gmt":"2007-08-18T16:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shamusyoung.com\/twentysidedtale\/?p=1279"},"modified":"2007-08-18T11:02:40","modified_gmt":"2007-08-18T16:02:40","slug":"bad-poetry-corner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.shamusyoung.com\/twentysidedtale\/?p=1279","title":{"rendered":"Bad Poetry Corner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Star-Tribune columnist James Lileks <a href=\"http:\/\/buzz.mn\/?q=node\/2317\">tackles bad poetry<\/a> this morning:<\/p>\n<div class=\"quote\">\nThis is a real live actual example from &#8220;A Creed For All of Us&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><tt>We need to smell the clear air<br \/>\nafter the rainfall<br \/>\nand appreciate the good in things<br \/>\nEach of us must be responsible and do our part<br \/>\nin order to help preserve a_beautiful world------<br \/>\nthe waterfalls, the oceans, the mountains<br \/>\nthe large gray boulder<br \/>\nthe large green farms the fluffy pink clouds<br \/>\nthe sunrise and sunsets, ladybugs<br \/>\nrainbows, dew, hummingbirds<br \/>\nbutterflies, dandelions<\/tt><\/p>\n<p>It goes on. And on. I agree that we must all do our part to preserve the sunrise and sunsets, so all you people working day and night to stop the earth&#39;s rotation: CUT IT OUT. That goes double for the Anti-Dew League, too.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sigh. This is just typical of spin you get out of the pro-fluffy clouds, pro-boulder media.  It&#8217;s really sad to see Lileks blinded to his own biases.  I used to really trust him when he wrote the Backfence, but since the Star Tribune has given him more space he&#8217;s become drunk on power and is using his column to lampoon those of us in the ladybug and rainbow abolition camp.  Hey pal: We vote too, you know.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a story about a drunk vs. a bear in a hotel. Yes you read that right and no I can&#8217;t explain it to you.
