Bowling+Rollercoaster=Fun

I have fashioned a YouTube video, suitable for public consumption:

I expect such highbrow stuff to be quite beyond the ken of the hoi polloi, but one must do one’s part for the sake of The Arts. I urge all decent people to link, rate and share my efforts according to the demands of propriety and decorum.

Thank you.

  1. some kid says:

    Thats great.

  2. Will says:

    Morbid, yet still entertaining.

The image of those poor puffy-headed people being mercilously mowed down will forever be seared, seared, into my memory.

  3. Shamus says:

If it helps: The little buggers are invincible. You can even see some of them getting up at the end of the movie.

  4. BeckoningChasm says:

What a splendid oasis of high-minded culture and true fellowship, found like a shining jewel amongst the gibbering internet.

  5. Bogan the Mighty says:

Shamus is there something you need to tell us? I feel worried that you had come up with this morbid scene of chaos. On the other hand is it bad that I still enjoyed it very much?

  6. Thurg CopperThumb says:

    LOL!

  7. Will says:

You know, I started browsing through a bunch of the other RCT3 stuff available on youtube and came across this amazing video. I take it you have to download a lot of custom geometry and scenery to develop this sort of project.

  8. Gothmog says:

That was SUPERB. I have to go recreate it now! :D

  9. BeckoningChasm says:

BH: That video was pretty cool.
B: Yeah, I could watch it allllll day.
BH: Uh, that's what we've been doing, buttmunch.
B: Oh yeah. Sorry about that.
BH: This video would be like, way cooler if Ozzy did the soundtrack.
B: YEAH! That would RULE! Like, if the roller coaster drove over Ozzy, and he'd be like, AAAAARRRAAAAGHHH!
BH: Whoa! Huh huh, huh huh huh.
    B: Heh, heh, heh heh.

  10. Mark says:

Utterly brilliant. Linked and rated. I’ve been reading “Everything bad is good for you” and after watching this video, I’m beginning to see the author’s point. Heh.

  11. Skeeve the Impossible says:

What a strangely perfect choice of music for the soundtrack.
Another good choice along the lines of bowling/injuries would have
been that Kenny Rodgers song My Condition from The Big Lebowski

  12. Jim says:

Being a huge fan of Roller Coaster Tycoon I have to to say: “That was excellent! I haven’t laughed that hard in a very long time.” Let’s do that again!

  13. edwest says:

What’s THE ARTS? Little kids roll balls to mow down rows of fake people. What was the highbrow part?

  14. music says:

Ahem. Edwest. It was, you know, a joke. A bit of false pretentiousness.

    Seriously, you didn’t realize that?

Anyway, I thought the video was hilarious, whatever the location of the brows of those involved.

  15. Pixy Misa says:

A thing of beauty and a joy forever.

  16. Wonderduck says:

The last time I went to an amusement park, the friends I was with asked me “Wonderduck, why won’t you go on the rollercoasters?” My reply was always the same: “They are evil. EVIL!”

Thank you for proving my point. AND for making me laugh really really hard.

  17. LafinJack says:

Where did that version of “Older” come from? The one I have uses a guitar instead of… whatever that first instrument is, and it just isn’t the same.

    1. Chippers says:

That particular arrangement was Oboe and Bassoon.

  18. Shamus says:

This version is from the album “Mink Car”.

  19. LafinJack says:

Thanks, I’ll poke around some more. :)

  20. Covert The Elder says:

Pat told me your dark side had taken over…I tried to reassure him it couldn’t possibly be true.

    Nope.

    He was right.

  21. pucky says:

    HAHAHA
i havn’t laughd like this in quite a while!!
it should play at random intervals at work so people realise life is great!

  22. Telas says:

I’ve heard about this clip, and I’m sorry I didn’t watch it sooner.

Absolutely hilarious. This is me with any “build your own xxxx” game. I swear the next generation will completely miss out on the fun of breaking stuff…

  23. fair_n_hite_451 says:

That my friend, is comedy gold!

  24. Elorin says:

Priceless. Absolutely priceless. I’m sharing with LOTS of people. ~E

  25. LethalSpoon says:

I got half way through the video when I realized what you were doing. And then the uncontrollable laughter began.

  26. Kris says:

    That… Was… Amazing. Damn.

  27. Critic101 says:

    That was like totally awesome!!!

  28. Critic101 says:

    That was like totally AWESOME!!!!

  29. Zar says:

YOU were the one who made this!? I saw this earlier on Youtube, and didn’t realize until now that it was you who did this. Just brilliant! I haven’t had such a laugh for a while when I watched this =).

  30. Ouker says:

Wow, im REALLY happy i haven’t been in a way of a rollercoaster under construction… But when will the laugh stop? Sadistic, but still. This IS bowling, as people fly!

  31. Siliconscout says:

    ok ….. ok..

    Now THAT was funny.

Might just have to start playing that one.

  32. Marty says:

I only wish there had been a side view camera angle that would have allowed viewing the cascade of balloons being released in to the air as hapless park visitors were mown down.

    :)

  33. HopefulFlame. says:

They even managed to hang on to their balloons…

    I want that game.

  34. tom says:

i love how the car in the back comes off and starts colliding with all the people that were forced to fly to the right of the rollar coaster cars

  35. Simon Jester says:

You know, that may have evoked a purer horror reaction from me than anything I have ever seen in any other computer game. I am typing this two fingered; my coordination is too rattled for touch typing.

  36. some crazy guy says:

    TMBG… rocks…. awesome video.

    I want some free balloons.

  37. DarkRyder says:

I normally wouldn’t comment on a year-old post, but I feel compelled to do so in this case for two reasons:

First, I must congratulate you on creating the first “build your own X” scenario to entertain me more than my own “swimming pool of death” in the original Sims. (Step one, build a swimming pool which encircles the house moat-style. Step two, add a diving board on the outside and a ladder on the inside. Step three, “You can check out any time you like / but you can never leave!”)

Second, I would like to officially dub this the “Bowlercoaster”. May it live forever.

  38. Nadzghoul says:

    Bowlercoaster – yep – great name :)

  39. Enrico Palazzo says:

“Older”, by They Might Be Giants:

  40. Shawn says:

This is the first time I’d seen that, and it’s fucking hilarious.

  41. Carra says:

If someone tries that out in real life, you’re gonna be screwed.

  42. lunafysh says:

Oh my god! I haven’t laughed this hard in quite some time!!
The 1st person view as you first go plowing through the crowd is priceless!
    Can’t wait to see more.

  43. Studoku says:

Lol, great use of a roller coaster.

  44. TheDeepDark says:

Too few people appreciate the comedic value of such things. Rock on, Shamus. Rock on.

  45. elda says:

shamus you’re sick (in an awsome way. i totally never thought of doing that. what i do is i make a small isolated place surrounded by stands, then i jack all the prices up as far as they’ll go, and put the unhappy guests in there. “yeah! i’ll show you unhappy!”), but that was so cool. what’s also fun is doing the looptyloop batmanand robin like one, and setting the speed up to like 100mph and watching it fly off.

  46. GamerCow says:

“The image of those poor puffy-headed people being mercilously mowed down will forever be seared, seared, into my memory.”

As it will burn in my memory, followed by an evil chortle. :)

  47. The video is hillarious. It is a bit morbid but still really funny. But, whatis really scarry is that you took the time to figure that setup out. ;) It is interesting that the game will let you do that.

  48. tepholman says:

    So many people…
All for the want of a balloon.
    (sigh)

  49. LMAO, that was awesome. I like how you even got the roller coaster car to make it through the entry gate! GGOOAALL!!

  50. Tosscobble says:

The little buggers are invincible. <– clinched it for me….

    ROFLMAO!

  51. ñêà÷àòü tuneup 2009 áåñïëàòíî says:

    the ragdoll effects were hilarious
    keep it up!

  53. Specktre says:

    That’s terrible, I love it!

  54. Tharwen says:

Giving out free balloons? YOU MONSTER

  55. Blue_Pie_Ninja says:

    I thought this was a kids game… O_O

This was so hilarious! I would’ve thought the devs wouldn’t have put in ragdoll physics for both the people and the rides! XD made my day!
