    pation!

I can’t comment on the stream, but I liked Rome 2. Admittedly I played it long after it first came out (and presumably most of the bugs were ironed out), but it does many things well. The limit on number of armies was frustrating at first, and I’m not sure how well it works in practice since it seems every minor power will have a full army at least, but I’ve grown to like it because of the personality it gives your armies.

On Batman v. Superman: Evidently it’s supposed t’be “Alex” Luthor, possibly Lex Luthor’s son or nephew or something. I dunno.

    1. 4th Dimension says:

Lex is probably short form of Alexander or Alex anyway.

      1. Syal says:

It’s actually an anglicization of ‘Legs’, a nickname he earned by dancing back in his younger days.

      2. Nidokoenig says:

From a bit of Googling and checking Wikipedia, Lex is a full first name in Holland, and Luther is a German surname, not the strangest ethnic mix so it’s plausible Lex Luthor is the whole thing, and if a fuller name has been given in canon, Wikipedia hasn’t noticed. Alexei Luthor is a parallel universe version of Lex Luthor in the comics, apparently.

        1. 4th Dimension says:

          Huh. Okay then.

          1. Supahewok says:

Lex Luthor’s full name is “Alexander Joseph ‘Lex’ Luthor”. I dunno what Nidokoenig was looking at, it’s literally the first words in Lex Luthor’s Wikipedia article.

    The embedding works perfectly. Nice.

  5. Trix2000 says:

Checked back just in time to catch the very end of the stream, with no sound (have to keep my volume off atm). :(

Oh well, better than I was expecting (ie: missing it entirely because WERK). Embedding looked great, though.

We talked about the Mirrors Edge soundtrack a few times in chat, but I feel the need to plug the artist again. Solar Fields really ought to do more video games, action games, RPGs, whatever.

I mean seriously, imagine exploring a sci-fi-ish Bioware open world hub with something like this playing in the background.

  7. Neko says:

I think “Steamtroller” is very apt.

    WOHOO!
    3hrs plus of Entertainment!

Now I just need to find something to play which doesn’t bind too much attention and doesn’t have too much dialogue. DAMN YOU!

    Hi Shamus,

at some point (haven’t watched the VOD yet), a fellow by a name similar to mine, which would be me again, asks about an email sent to you. The email is basically, to ask if you would be interested in receiving a locally (Eastern Europe) made, post-apocalyptic themed board game (think Stalker, rather than Fallout), in exchange for writing your impressions on it. It also mentions that I’m doing this to help out a friend of mine, who’s one of the lead game designers for this game, and is looking for new venues of promotion. I apologize if this is too pushy or not really up your alley (I’m certainly hoping it is).

If you need more info on the game, this is the kickstarter link below. If you need clarifications, I can get you in touch. Thanks for your time!

The steam controller key binding setup doesn’t seem that complicated to me at all, but then again, I’m used to setting keybindings on emulators for keyboard. However, it does seem pretty tedious to have to use the stick for everything.
Maybe the solution is to allow the user to download presets for each game from some other resource, but that would require either developer support, or third-party user support, which is going to be highly variable in quality and availability. Especially if someone else has a very different idea of what a comfortable and easy-to-use control scheme is like.

  11. Chris says:

Aw, the show Jessica Jones is name-dropped and Shamus leaves, the game freezes, and the topic gets dropped. I was hoping to hear what people had to say about the show, drat..

    1. Gruhunchously says:

We discussed it pretty extensively in the chat.

  12. Pinkhair says:

Re: the ladders in that large space in Mirror’s edge- it’s been a long time but I’m pretty sure that was a(strangely clean) flood control station and that those platforms were for access to control panels when the place is flooded.

  13. Cuthalion says:

This was fun to watch. Mirror’s Edge looks pretty.
