Honey Lemon and Aunt Cass

My wife and second daughter Esther are headed to Tekko today. As a sort of last-minute thing, they decided to cosplay as Honey Lemon and aunt Cass from Big Hero 6. They have a habit of only cosplaying as stuff that won’t be a pain in the ass to wear.

Heather is holding a fake donut, a reference to the aunt Cass joke about stress-eating.

I have decided to cosplay as Sir Not Appearing In This Film by staying home. I love how the costumes turned out, so I thought I’d share.

In this picture, there are 47 people. None of them can be seen. In this film we hope to show you how not to be seen.

:) And then I went and watched it and Mrs. B.J. Smegma?

I like how accurate Shamus’ costume is. The extra effort truly pays off!

    1. tzeneth says:

The best part is Shamus’s attention to the details. I have never seen a more accurate version of the costume. I’m trying to figure out how many hours Shamus spent working on it and researching it to get it exactly right.

    Nice!
I had to check which blog posted this, simply because this is out of the norm for your posts, Shamus. :)

    Hope they have fun!

  4. Galad says:

I assume the big yellow happy person-thing on the left is Esther? Yeah, I can tell this has been a great idea, because of how radiant she looks :) Have fun, ladies!

So if a man cosplays as honey lemon, does that make a lemon party?

  6. Nidokoenig says:

The Honey Lemon hyperlink is an image search for Aunt Cass, same as the Aunt Cass hyperlink. Great costumes.

So is everyone taking it in good graces that at least some of your children will be much taller than you?

Also Wow those two really look alike.

I’m surprised your camera-shy wife allowed you to post these. These might be the clearest images of her you’ve posted that aren’t decades-old.

  9. I love it! They both look like they’re having so much fun!

Thank you for sharing this, Shamus!

How last minute are we talking about? That’s some pretty great costume fidelity for being in a time crunch. Good work.

    1. Jokerman says:

How did they find a last minute fake donut too? :D

  11. Dudeperson says:

She needs to put that donut down tbh

  12. RCN says:

Great costumes! Your wife really nailed Aunt Cass. Did she relate a lot with the character, I wonder?

  13. Mom says:

You should have identified which is wife and which is daughter because I don’t think it is so easy to tell.

    1. NoneCallMeTim says:

Indeed, they almost look like sisters.

    2. mac says:

This. I assumed it was just me that couldn’t tell.

      1. Steve C says:

I thought “Wow, you can really see the family resemblance to their mother.” I was expecting a 3rd picture after the break to show Heather.

    3. Crystalgate says:

I thought it was pretty obvious that one of them is much older than the other. In any case, hold you mouse over the picture and you should see who’s who.

      1. Eleion says:

I’m guessing “Mom” has a pretty good idea of who is who. ;)

  14. Samrobb says:

Tekko? Oh, heaven help me if my girls ever find out about it… between Confluence and the Steel City Comic Con, I’m not sure that I can handle Eldest Daughter dragging me off to another con.

  15. Cuthalion says:

Looks fun! The resemblances are pretty good.

  16. arron says:

And only a week Shamus was telling us of a creativity drought. And then he comes up with creative excuses like this..! ;)

  17. Otters34 says:

The designs from an American comic book about Japanese superheroes later redone to better resemble Japanese design sensibilities for an American movie now used as impromptu dress-up guides for Americans to attend a convention about Japanese culture. In America.

Globalization is pretty weird. Also I wish I was 1/10 as cool as the Young family manages to be without even trying.

    Very good cosplay… I like it :)
