Best banner ad ever:
This is the RSPOD ad currently running at the PA site.
EDIT: I’m not sure how I ended up writing about RSPOD this week. It was not my intention. I have several posts on Indigo Prophecy, to which we shall turn our attention as soon as this temporary mania abates.
Overused Words in Game Titles
I scoured the Steam database to figure out what words were the most commonly used in game titles.
Bad and Wrong Music Lessons
A music lesson for people who know nothing about music, from someone who barely knows anything about music.
The Best of 2017
My picks for what was important, awesome, or worth talking about in 2017.
Crysis 2
Crysis 2 has basically the same plot as Half-Life 2. So why is one a classic and the other simply obnoxious and tiresome?
Why The Christmas Shopping Season is Worse Every Year
Everyone hates Black Friday sales. Even retailers! So why does it exist?
Shamus, wanted to say thanks for mentioning Indigo Prophecy. Admittedly, I’d never heard of it before(Stupid WoW eats my brain in regards to other PC games), but I picked it up and love it to bits.
Sigh, I’m always so behind the times when it comes to games like this.
Haha, that is the best banner ad ever. It’s nice to see someone having a sense of humor about such things, but I shouldn’t be too surprised since it’s Penny Arcade.
Indeed the greatest banner ad of all time.
Shamus, I thought I’d point you to this post, given all the recent hub-bub about DRM in various games. This is my new favorite devblog.

It’s from Introversion…not sure if you’ve heard of them, I don’t think I remember you mentioning any of their games, but they made Uplink, Darwinia and Defcon. This devblog is about one of their upcoming games, Subversion, which looks awesome and is highly focused on procedural content.
That post is all about the complex issue of DRM from a developer’s standpoint.
Also from that devblog, an interesting discussion on PC vs Console controls.

The quote on the vertical banner ad reads:
“Penny arcade sucks and is unfunny. please murder penny arcade and then yourself if you disagree with me.”

I’m curious as to who this ddf fellow is.

This is awesomely subversive, kinda like the disclaimer at the beginning of “Jackass”.
I’m tempted to buy it based on this ad alone.
…I don’t get it. Why would they post such a bad testimonial?
Ellimystic: For one thing, i’m guessing ddf has never played the game.
Anyway, it’s ironic. I know irony is 99% dead these days, but apparently not completely dead…
That is the best banner ad ever. Telas is right. That almost makes the game worth buying in and of itself.
I’d like to second Phlux/Factoid’s recommendation. I heart Introversion very much.
Strangely enough, my favorite part about Introversion is that I don’t have to have any CDs in the drive to play their games. I wish more game companies would follow examples like this. If I wanted to wear out my optical drives faster I’d surely find a better way of doing it.
Best banner ever.
I always find it amusing when an author prints quotes from detractors to promote their work.
I’m looking forward to your review of Indigo Prophecy. I played a friends copy on my PS2 so It’ll be interesting to compare my thoughts on the game with yours.
I hope you’re having a good day. :)
