Or: Why does this quiz end a preposition with?

Yeah, I know these are lame, but if you wanted something cool you wouldn’t be reading a geek culture site, would you?

You scored as Serenity (Firefly). You like to live your own way and don’t enjoy when anyone but a friend tries to tell you should do different. Now if only the Reavers would quit trying to skin you.

A further note: I would most certainly be Wash. I’d fly the ship and make jokes. And like in the show, nobody would laugh.

  1. given that the complete Season of Firefly is on DVD for less than 30 bucks, I wonder if I shouldn’t just grab it. I loved Firefly but still haven’t ever seen a single episode.

Man i am behind! I still need to post my Galactica series finale review too…

  2. Shamus says:

You mean you sew the movie, but never the TV show? Wow. I didn’t know you could do that. :)

Actually, that might be the better way to watch it. The stuff that happens to two of the characters is very harsh if you’ve grown attached to them. When Wash, the pilot was impaled by those reavers, I was really shocked and I don’t think I’ve ever recovered. I’m not kidding. I was very attached to that character, and really identified with him, so when he got the shaft I was stricken.

I will say this: The TV show is even better than the movie. The movie had to spend a little time bringing non-fans up to speed, and the show is more focused and less grim.

  3. well, I dont have cable TV :)

agreed, (character who got shafted) didnt really strike me in any way much during the movie, and the sort of muffled reaction from everyone at his death kind of de-tragedified it for me. I imagine that scene was relying on the previous affection that fans of the TV series had for him for max impact. I did love his “leaf on the wind” stuff though. (Malcolm: “what does that even mean?!” lol )

  4. Shamus says:

well, I dont have cable TV

I’m seeing this more and more, particularly among geeks. Our family got rid of cable TV, and now just watch what we want through Netflix.

I wonder if this is a trend in general, a trend among geeks, or just a coincidence.

  5. re: TV

We just had a poll on our non-geek blog and here’s the results:

    http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006/04/instant_survey_67.php

A lot of people seem to be watching little or no TV. Probably starting to be widespread among online folks.

Personally, I haven’t watched TV in almost 5 years except the Canadian news once in a while.

Creating Passionate User had some good stuff about TV: Part 1 and Part 2.

  6. Evil Otto says:

You scored 81% with Babylon 5. Does that mean you’d use nuclear weapons at the drop of a hat?

  7. Shamus says:

You scored 81% with Babylon 5. Does that mean you'd use nuclear weapons at the drop of a hat?

Depends on how far away I am. I don’t use nukes in close-quarters fighting.

  8. thanks, i’ll check out those links … I actually got my Galactica fix via BitTorrent. I will probably end up buying the DVDs at some point, so I’m not too hung up on the ethics. Besides, my ongoing Galactica prosletyzing is bound to be a net win for SciFi Channel :)

If cable TV came a la carte, I’d go for it in a nanosecond. I dont want to pay for channels I dont watch and dont see why they should be subsidized by my dollar.

  9. Pixy Misa says:

Interesting. You must have very different answers to me on something. (Stargate, 94%.)

    Millennium Falcon (Star Wars) 50%

Take my love, take my land, but damn, and I thought my BS:G quotient would be higher.

  11. Steve Lytton/Deathblade_Penguin says:

Somewhat unexpected, but fortuitous, as I very much like FarScape.Especially Crais(who also supplied Pilot’s voice!), as he was marvellous.

  13. Will says:

I originally had a three way tie.

    You scored as Moya (Farscape).

I’m not quite sure how I got as high as 25% on the Enterprise D, since the show plain annoys me, though.

considering as i love the first two i'[m going to watch farscape now.

on the tiebreaker i picked 42.
because it’s the answer to everything.

  23. Eljacko says:

I got X-Files Division 100%, although knowing my luck I would almost certainly be the wisecracking comic relief who is drafted into the X-Files Division for a season or two only to be killed in a two part season finale. Chances of me having a dark secret discovered after my demise figure around about 82%.

  24. Desgardes says:

    Oh, 100% millenium falcon.

I’d be one of the have nots, though, I just can feel it. I want force powers too, dammit!
