This “being called by people in the videogame” would be WAY too real for me. I’d actually be really uncomfortable with it. Also I hate taking on the phone. One of these boys would call me and I’d be like, “DUDE. Email me!”

Anyway. This was good for a laugh and I’m sorry if I got a bit mean at the end. This was a fun idea. I’m glad Mumbles suggested it, and I’m grateful to Josh for making it happen.

How do you do something on accident three times?

  2. Daemian Lucifer says:

“What do they eat” seems to be a major part of this game.Shamus will definitely play this one a lot now.

  3. Turtlebear says:

The premise for the game was very odd. It’s really funny the way that the player character just turned up at an apartment that a random person over the phone said to go to, replaced a dead woman in this random organisation of professional party planners, then began a romantic sub plot with one of the members half a day later. I guess she obviously had no sort of life to deal with before the plot happened.

Not that this game is actually supposed to be about plot or world-building or anything even remotely like that.

On that note, however, the game actually wasn’t as horrible to watch as I thought it would be, and the hosts definitely kept me entertained.

It’s my second favorite Spoiler Warning after Marlow Briggs. I know you wouldn’t want to abandon Fallout 4 at this point, but I’d love a season of the gang chatting up the cute boys.

    1. Christopher says:

Yep. I know you guys have a comfort zone, but going outside it once in a while makes for some fresh-feeling videos.

    2. Majere says:

If I had to choose between a season of this and the rest of the Fallout 4 one I’d pick this without hesitation.

    3. potatoejenkins says:

      +1

Maybe not even a full season, but another special chatting up at least one of the cute boys to lighten the mood. I fear the rest of the Fallout 4 season has a good chance to get worse than the Fallout 3: Broken Steel ending. No one seemed to have any fun at that point anymore.

I am highly in favour of Josh using some Patreon money to open up the paywall so they can do a one or two week special and romance 707 or Han.

        1. Maryam says:

I’ve been quite entertained by these videos so far and I’d like to see more as well. I don’t normally watch too many Spoiler Warnings, but I’d be willing to throw a tip into the SW Patreon to see a few more of these.

    4. tmtvl says:

Of course it helps that this is a better game than Fallout 4.

Although the same can be said of Fallout 3, so that’s not much of a standard to go by.

  5. Cuthalion says:

Wow. So, that was a fun miniseries. I guess in the regular game, you just wait for things to happen in real time if you don’t want to pay for it? I certainly don’t see how you could get the 500(!) hearts you need to make a phone call. :P

Hope Mumbles (and the others, I guess) had fun!

  6. Lachlan the Mad says:

Don’t worry, Shamus, your curmudgeonly nature was absolutely freaking perfect for this video.

    1. Not sure if it’s just me, but I really couldn’t tell the difference; there seemed to be a little less of a filter between Shamus’ mind and mouth, but it’s still the same snarky-old-man we’ve come to enjoy. :P

      1. Philadelphus says:

I couldn’t really tell much difference either, honestly. In a good way, in the sense that I think you’re overrating your meanness, Shamus.

        1. Shamus says:

Yeah, I remember being in a foul mood and feeling mean, but now that I’ve skimmed through the episode I see that basically none of it came through. It was a strange night for me.

          1. Philadelphus says:

I think I have an idea of what you mean, as I think I’m prone to overrating the severity of any negativity of my own in situations where I know I’m not functioning 100%. Though I suppose at least that’s probably better than underrating it.

          2. Majere says:

Really the only thing that could be construed as overtly mean was the “kill yourselves” part and even that was just in jest.

            1. Benjamin Hilton says:

Yeah I think most of what he thought of as mean came out as hilariously sick burns that got the rest of the cast (and me) cracking up.

            2. Sleeping Dragon says:

Yeah, this was the only moment when I thought that it came through, the rest was pretty hilarious and I think worked well for the “old man Shamus” shtick.

  7. James says:

So food and eating as a social thing is a very Korean thing as is eating well. The social eating section on twitch was made because alot of Korean and other Asian streamers would stream eating together.

  8. McNutcase says:

I love how by this point, Josh’s “all ahead full, we have no fucks to give” approach was making Mumbles regret demanding this game. Please, try to do more of it, because it’s a glorious pile of poor decisions…

  9. Neko says:

    Best season ever!

  10. 13:48 “And you act like you have no game, Shamus!”

You know he does, Josh! You even playtested Good Robot!

…unless that was meta-commentary on how good you think it is?

Now I want a really nerdy dating sim where you literally have to have a game to enter the chatroom.

    1. Daemian Lucifer says:

It already exists. Its called world of warcraft.

  11. Deadpool says:

I always enjoy watching you guys play totally unorthodox games… There’s a part of me that revels in the idea of watching Josh play the new Super Robot Wars…

    1. Austin says:

We should give them the most stereotypical JRPG.

      1. Christopher says:

I just gifted Shamus Tales of Symphonia! It came up often in the Final Fantasy X discussions, and as a Nintendo kid with few RPGs to choose from, I have a lot of nostalgia for it. So I guess we’ll see it it holds any appeal at all in this environment.

        1. Deadpool says:

Symphonia is a really good game. Co op is clunky as hell, but still enjoyable.

          Also, best Kratos.

  12. Christopher says:

    You can romance Jaehee?!

  13. potatoejenkins says:

Thank you for this amazing week guys! Mumbles you are a hero! :D

    1. Hermocrates says:

      She’s da real MVP!

  14. Christopher says:

This is unrelated to the video, but: I clicked on one of the archive links to “Best of 2015”, which lead me to “Best of 2014” in stead.

  15. John says:

Wow. I hereby officially repeal and retract anything nice I may have said about Han after the last episode. I didn’t fully grasp the trust-fund-nepotism-baby aspects of his character until now. And he has a disturbing lack of boundaries with respect to his assistant. So that settles it. All the boys are horrible. I wouldn’t date any of them. Josh, on the other hand, should he ever choose to continue playing this game, should date all of them. They are exactly the sort of people who deserve to have Regina Cuftbert inflicted upon them.

I thought the telephone calls were kind of iffy. I don’t want a game to call me but I especially don’t want a game to call me and deliver long, random monologues like that.

  16. Ninety-Three says:

Just to balance out everyone asking for more Mystic Messenger: Please no more Mystic Messenger. Pure-text games do not work well in the voiceover Let’s Play format: it gets difficult to constantly follow two conversations at once, and it shifts the nature of the videos by requiring the audience’s undivided attention (as opposed to the Fallout LP which can be multi-tasked like a TV show).

  17. NoneCallMeTim says:

I do like the random one-offs the crew do, but games like this, where they are essentially one-trick ponies would have difficulty filling a full season.

A single week of it, enables them to hold their charm, without wearing out their welcome.
