I don’t know why, but here is another one. With apologies to Randall Munroe.
If Star Wars Was Made in 2006?
Imagine if the original Star Wars hadn't appeared in the 1970's, but instead was pitched to studios in 2006. How would that turn out?
Fixing Match 3
For one of the most popular casual games in existence, Match 3 is actually really broken. Until one developer fixed it.
The Best of 2013
My picks for what was important, awesome, or worth talking about in 2013.
Bowlercoaster
Two minutes of fun at the expense of a badly-run theme park.
The Gradient of Plot Holes
Most stories have plot holes. The failure isn't that they exist, it's when you notice them while immersed in the story.
Thanks for the tool tip!
You’ve made the rule, but I’m inclined to flout it?
It’s great. Rip him off all you want.
I remember being actually 106 miles from Chicago and be so happy I could use that line! Sadly, the woman I was with had never seen the movie…
What line? From which film? Help me out, I’m clueless as to what this is referencing.
The Blues Brothers. Towards the end of the film after the final performance, directly following the confrontation with Carrie Fisher.
Shame on you.
For any interested there’s a whole thread on the xkcd forum about editing xkcd comics. The original idea was to make them worse, but there are just as many hilarious posts as worse ones.

Hit it.

“When the going gets tough,”
“…the tough make lemonade!”
Stop making these, you smarmy cuntwacker
Having never seen the Blues Brothers, I still recognized the character and the quote just based on the hat. :)
For me, the best part was the alt text – I could hear Vizzinni “argh”ing in frustration as much as he did for the original line!
I love that movie so damn much.
So damn much.
Bourne: It’s possible I’m missing something. Granted, this might just be the identity of the fiend who did purposefully, and with Pan-like malice, urinate into your morning repast.
I’m on the receiving end of this so often it’s made me want to just start quoting German films so that NOBODY will be able to get it.
Make Munroe suffer all you like.
We all hate and envy him anyway.
Freaking independent wage earning ex-nasa #&$*.
Also recognized the character, but did not see movie. ^^;
I dun ged it…
After reading a few comments, all I can really say is I only ever saw Blues Brothers 2, and didn’t like it enough to look for the first.
This is the one where the try to save an orphanage while getting chased by legalized neo-nazis, the national guard, a dozen cops, and met Ray Charles wielding a shotgun…right?
Seriously, the first movie is MUCH better.
… Hit it!
The first movie… it isn’t “better” so much as “infinitely more quotable”
Anyway, the worst part about doing movie quote set-ups is when your buddy flubs the line, or misses the cue, or both.
Anakin? Is that you?
Oh sorry, I feel shamed.*slinks away to the wikipedia to check who Carrie Fisher is*
EDIT: OH! THAT Carrie Fisher!
Those of you who haven’t watched Blues Brothers:
Do.
It’s nothing but witty dialogue, car chases, and blues music.
It’s basically the perfect movie.
No offense, but I had no idea it was possible to make an xkcd-esque comic even worse than regular xkcd.
I don’t know where people got the idea that you could go around saying obviously insulting things to people as long as you said “no offense” first.
It’s really okay if you don’t like the comic. It’s also okay if other people do.
Sheesh.
No offense, #23, but your simian countenance suggests a heritage unusually rich in species diversity.
I usually try to be a good sport about criticism, but this “your comic sucks” isn’t constructive or clever. It’s just pointless rudeness and thread jacking, and it’s uncalled for.
Sometimes if a street musician is playing a song you hate it’s better to just walk on by rather than stopping and booing. I don’t really care if you like my stick-figure XKCD ripoff or not. I had fun making it, which is more or less what this site is about.
Alright, fine. I don’t like stick figure comics because they’re lazy. That’s what I should have said.
Sorry, I’ve been off with flu the whole week and the walls are starting to close in. Bitching on the internet is my release.
@Flunkmaster Chex: A comic can still be cleverly written even if it’s done with stick figures, so I don’t see what’s so inherently lazy about stick figure comics. Surely it matters more whether the writer’s good at the jokes/storyline, doesn’t it?
If all you want to do is write, don’t make a comic, or have someone else draw it for you.
It tells a lot about xkcd that people like you and David Morgan-Mar do ripoffs about it.
